Month In Instagram: July

Happy Monday Lovelies!

Since I've been so M.I.A. on the blog lately, figured now was the best time for my monthly "Month in Instagram" post ... here goes nothin'!

Went to a college sorority sister's house for dinner, wine & Disney "Scene It"
Celebrated the 4th of July in Marina del Rey

Two of my favorite ladies and I on the 4th of July
Watching one of the 8 spectacular firework shows I could see from my roof on the 4th

Enjoying a picnic in line before seeing Coming To America at Hollywood Forever. Went with a large group, but loved having Dr. D there to make it a date night
Had a creative pyramid photo challenge for kickball ... our team name is "Dickball"
Found this quote on Instagram and immediately had to re-gram it

Went to Disneyland with my Momma ... she was underwhelmed by Aurora's castle;
However, she absolutely loved California Adventure's "World of Color" show

Momma and I on Buzz Lightyear & Luigi's Flying Tires
This is one of my favorite Instagram shots I've ever taken!
Enjoying happy hour with Momma in Santa Monica at the Misfit
Enjoyed my first Dodger game with Momma and Dr. D on what might have been the hottest summer day in LA!

Made it to the 3rd round of the WAKA Celebrity kickball tourny but lost in the semi-finals
Had a field day when I came home to all of these shoes my roommate got for her thrift store!

Had a blast at the 66th Emmys Governors Ball Press Preview
Enjoyed the largest bottle of Crispin ever made at CPK
Took my roommate to the Emmys Performers Peer Nominee Reception at Montage Beverly Hills. We met a ton of celebs, but our favorites were Joe Morton from Scandal and R.J. Mitte from Breaking Bad!
Had some of the girls over for a wine & gossip night. It was the perfect way to close out the month and catch up with some fabulous ladies!

Cobalt Blue & Stylish Tuesday!

Happy Tuesday Dolls!

Lately I've been obsessing over cobalt blue! I went on a major shopping spree a couple of weeks back for my cousins wedding in Dallas, and ended up with 4 cobalt blue dresses! It didn't hit me until I went to hang them up in my OCD color coordinated closet and they all went into the same section ... don't know which is more embarrassing, a color coordinated closet or that I indeed bought 4 dresses the same exact color in one shopping trip!

This was initially one of those stated dresses I bought for the wedding. I adore the 3/4 length sleeves and how flattering the fit and flare style is. The small horizontal lines added texture to the dress and felt amazing to rub my hand up and down my arm (guilty as charged, because y'all know I did that all day long!)

I didn't end up wearing it to the wedding (because let's be honest, I would have died in the Texas heat y'all!) but I did wear it to a work meeting last week and got loads of compliments. Best of all, it was a steal for less than $25 from Forever 21!

When it came to accessorizing this beauty, I kept it very simple. Normally I love to layer necklaces, add a watch to literally every outfit and pair with statement earrings on top of it all but honestly, this dress speaks for itself.

I added a waist belt to break up all of the blue and tie in my nude/rose gold heels. The statement earrings matched so perfectly, I had to showcase them by putting my hair up and letting them be the star of the show!
If you know me, you know that I'm a sucker for a good arm party. Most people feel naked without their phone and while I too am one of those people, if my left wrist isn't stacked and my right wrist doesn't have a hair tie, my whole day is caught off balance.

You gals get it, hair ties are an essential wrist accessory and you never need it until the one time you do and your trusty rubber band isn't there ... whomp whomp!
Ladies, these heels are EVERYTHING! The heel is a perfect 3 1/2 inch height so you don't feel like you're going to break your neck as you walk around. The cut out's are on trend along with the textured leather and metallic rose gold heel. My favorite part is the ankle support - I truly feel like I could run a mile in these puppies.

Shout out to my blogger bud, Adri from Adri Lately for helping convince me these bad boys needed to be purchased. I don't even know why I was contemplating now!

Shorts in January?

Happy Thursday Dolls!

Can you believe we're 3 weeks into 2014? It's mind boggling to me that today is Thursday as well. My whole week has been off kilter thanks to good 'ol MLK Day.

What also is crazy is the weather we're in experiencing in LA. I'm super grateful for blue skies and sunny days, but it feels a little odd being in the upper 70's low 80's in the middle of January! I took these photos 2 weeks ago, yes you read that correctly, these were taken the second week of January after returning home from back East.

Completely in love with this shot

Dr. D and I explored Griffith Observatory and thought it was the perfect opportunity to test out my new Canon T3i Rebel camera I got for Christmas. We're still working with the photo settings, but I must admit I do love how much better the clarity is on these!

Blazin' Into Fall

Working in Public Relations/Events means wearing a TON of black. Since award season is upon us I've been trying to wear as much color as possible before I'm forced into the "all black" world again. This peach dress is perfect for the office and has front pockets which come in handy more often than I ever thought they would!

Even though Fall is "officially" here it's still ridiculously warm in LA so wearing a blazer seems almost ludicrous; however, whenever I step into a building the AC is so strong it's as if I've been blown into Antarctica. Blazers are perfect for layering and make work attire look that much more chic.

Month in Instagram: July

July was a great month in my 2013 year. I flew back home to Charleston to see my family over the holiday weekend, spent quality time with my sister after her intense surgery, caught up with some dear friends and started to blog religiously again. Check out some shots via Instagram.

1 23 4 5 6 7 8

1. The rooms and I headed downtown LA to watch Queen Bey in all her glory on her Mrs. Carter tour
2. Caught up with a Charleston bestie, Josh over a beer. We hadn't seen each other for over a year!
3. I flew back to Charleston for the 4th of July weekend. It was so good to see my family, but also to be with my sister since she had double jaw surgery 2 weeks prior.
4. The familia out on the boat! The rest of the crew met up with us on the jet ski's :)
5. My little ZTA sister flew out to LA for a wedding so we got to catch up one weekend
6. Morgs and I are OBSESSED with Christmas, so naturally a Christmas in July party had to be thrown
7. One of my last "fat" meals. No more frozen packaged meals, pop or candy until September!
8. I saw a SC license plate on my way home from work, top it off with a Charleston Holy City brewing sticker and I was happier than a clam. Love seeing fellow southerner's out in LA
