East vs West Swim + Cover Up

Happy Thursday Babes!

June has seriously flown by y'all, here we are at the last Thursday of the month again which means it's time for East vs. West Coast Style with Pamela from Sequins & Seabreezes! Things have been so hot lately in LA and Florida so we decided to showcase swim and cover ups this time around!

I'm obsessing over Pamela in navy blue, I truly think this is her color! I also love the sleeves on her cover up ... perfect to take her from the pool to the club house for a mai tai without looking inappropriate!
I love her fringe top with stripe bottoms!
Once again, Pamela and I are just alike in our peek-a-boo cover ups!

Naturally when we were talking about what to feature this month I suggested swimwear because I've been DYING to do a beach photo shoot and low and behold, it didn't happen. I had my house warming last Saturday night and Sunday was spent cheering on good 'ol USA in the World Cup. Long story short, I went to my trusty rooftop for photos!

I bought this cover up the Summer before last when Dr. D and I went to Palm Springs because I was tired of throwing on sundresses. I was tried of shopping around at the Grove and gave in as I walked into Nordstrom. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about Nordstrom but whenever I go in there I know I'm about to drop some serious moola.
As I rode the escalator up to the swim section, I told myself I wouldn't buy anything unless it was timeless and I'd continuously wear it over the years. After my mental pep talk, I saw it hanging on the back wall in an array of colors with a big SALE sign above it - this was too good to be true! I grabbed it in hot pink, white and black and went to the fitting room because sometimes you just need to try the color on against your skin to know what you're getting yourself into.
Cover Up: Becca by Rebecca Virtue // Fedora: H&M // Bathing Suit: Victoria Secret // Sunnies: Ray Ban

Turns out black looked the best and was the only color NOT on sale. Go figure. I was so in love with it at that point I dropped the $120 ... yes it still makes me cringe ... grabbed my shiny gray bag and booked it the hell out of there. Looking back I'm SO glad I bought it because I wear it every single time I go to the pool, spa, or beach. Sometimes it's worth it to spend the extra money for a quality piece!

Do y'all have any pieces in your closet you're thankful you spent the money on?

East vs West Coast Style: Pastels

Happy Thursday Loves!

I'm so excited for today's post because it's Round 2 of the East vs. West Coast Style Remix! The gorgeous Floridian Pamela and I are back and this time around we're talking Spring Pastels!

I shamefully have to admit that I completely spaced to take my photos ahead of time and literally bribed my beloved Dana to rush over to my house to take these. I've never taken night shots, she had never shot at night ... but needless to say I think they turned out great for what we had to work with!

I love any and every chance to wear pastels. The pale colors automatically make you look tanner and maybe it's just me, but they generally put me in a better mood. I wear SO much black and navy for work so it's nice to switch it up a bit!
When Pamela and I had initially decided to do pastels I immediately had 3-4 outfits run through my head. Fast forward to the night I took these photos and my mind went BLANK. I had a mint skirt paired with a hot pink tank but that seemed too much and a white short with a baby blue tank seemed too Summer-like. I was thrilled when I stumbled across this paisley pencil skirt because it's one of those items you completely forget about until you see it. Don't worry folks, this beauty will be in FULL rotation for Spring!
Isn't the little cut out in this top fun?!

Movin' on over to the East coast, Pamela looks like a straight up bombshell in her all mint ensemble with a pop of black in her gorgeous ankle strap heels!

If y'all haven't headed over to Sequins and Seabreezes then seriously what are you waiting for?! I kid, but in all seriousness Pamela's blog is one of my favorites! Her photos are always stunning, but her writing is what sucks me in -- whether she's talking about the changes in Florida's weather, vacation plans or just a random fashion tip you truly feel like you're having a conversation with one of your best girlfriends.

Just for shits and gigs I had to share this candid photo Dana caught last night: Hope your Thursday just got a little brighter!

East vs West Coast: Winter White

Happy Thursday Dolls!

I'm so excited to announce a fun project I have been wanting to do for quite some time now. When I started my blog a year ago I kept seeing all kinds of fun collaborations between bloggers and kept telling myself, "One day you'll get there".

One of the first bloggers I encountered was Laura from Laura Lily at WWD Magic in Las Vegas. I would read her blog daily (and still do), but one post kept catching my eye, "East vs West Coast Style". Seeing as how I moved here from South Carolina I knew I wanted to befriend an East coast blogger who's style would not only be spot on, but a girl who would in a small way remind me of back home. Along came Pamela from Sequins and Seabreezes, my new blogger pal who was the perfect fit for such a fun collab!
Pamela's a Florida gal who's year round tan and great style immediately caught my attention. We started emailing back and forth and not only was she using the same key words I do (love, doll, babe, etc). she had the quirkiest personality I have ever come across! We've only been e-mailing for a few short weeks but I feel like I've known her for years.

We decided to make this a monthly collab, so check back every 3rd Thursday of the month so we can share how the East and West coast wears a trend. To kick things off we're talking Winter White!

Even though it's Winter, Los Angeles doesn't really believe in that so I went with a white dress and a cream blazer. I added some glitz and color with my necklace and a fun snakeskin shoe to kick it up a notch!
I can't be the only one who rocks a sock bun on a bad hair day right?!
Dress: Forever 21 // Blazer: Kenor via TJ Maxx // Necklace: Prep Obsessed // Shoes: Target // Sunnies: Rayban // Earrings: Versona // Rings: Pandora and Steinmart

Holiday Leopard with Ashton

Happy Monday Y'all!

I hope everyone had a phenomenal weekend! I celebrated my birthday (extremely early) and watched a ton of football with Dr. D. Still can't get over the Eagles vs. Lions game continuing to play in 8+ inches of snow. Sheer madness!

Today I'm teaming up with the wonderful Ashton from Ashton Wears Things to show you how we wear leopard during the holiday season!

I love how Ashton styled her black blazer and leather leggings with pops of gold and leopard! Such a great twist on the all black and leopard combo and perfect for the holidays!DSC_0550 DSC_0575_2DSC_8265

I have my fair share of brown/black leopard tops, but for the holidays I wanted to spice things up a bit with some red leopard. I paired it with a white skirt and a skinny belt (glitter of course!)

With the holiday parties in full swing, I switched out my plum purple mani for a emerald green to feel more festive!
